John Sweeney is the CEO of Praxis Solutions, a tech-enabled services firm serving financial services clients including wealth managers, asset managers and banks. Praxis is a term attributed to Aristotle and means putting theory into action. Praxis’ tagline, Think. Make. Do. describes the three services offered by the firm: consulting, AI software development, integration and implementation. John spent 18 years at Fidelity Investments as an Executive Vice President and the head of the managed accounts business, the trust bank, head of mutual fund product management and the retirement planning and portfolio construction tools. He and his team built the firm’s first Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), first retail Separately Managed Account (SMA) and first Unified Managed Account (UMA). After leaving Fidelity, John got enamored with blockchain technology and was Head of Wealth and Asset Management at Figure Technologies (FIGR), a San Francisco-based FinTech lender building Business to Consumer (B2C) financial products on top of a Business to Business (B2B) blockchain called Provenance. John led the development of a blockchain based fund administration platform providing client registry, a transaction ledger and a digital exchange for private funds. Prior to joining Praxis, John was the founder and managing partner of Momentum Capital Partners, LLC, providing consulting and advisory services to global financial services firms, FinTech startups and private equity firms. John has led the blockchain and digital assets business of a large global bank, where he led development, product and sales teams on three continents, built out Banking as a Service offering for a global investment bank, and worked for FinTechs, asset managers and large wealth management firms. John was previously the Chief Operating Officer of Osprey Funds, an investment manager that built tradable investment products on top of digital assets. John has testified in front of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee and the Department of Labor. He was elected the Chair of the Board of Governors of the Money Management Institute and is the co-founder of the Blockchain Finance Forum. John spent his early career at American Express, is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and received his MBA from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management where he was elected President of his class.
